As Hurricane lan ripped through Florida, we should all remember the importance of being prepared before Mother Nature knocks at our door. Advance planning cuts out a lot of anxiety when a hurricane or tropical storm approaches. The list below is not exhaustive but will hopefully trigger some ideas of things to consider. PACK: Prescriptions, cash, and important papers (in a zip lock bag). First aid kit. Water (1 gal/person/day is suggested). Snacks, energy bars, etc. Car chargers for your phones. Do not forget your pet's needs: food, bedding, play toys. Cards or compact games to pass the time until you can return home. Fresh batteries & flashlights. Rain coat, change of clothes. PREPARE: Gas up your car in case gas pumps are not working. Store outdoor furniture inside; secure your outdoor grill. Be able to access any storm shutters for windows, make sure the panels are labeled and you have the proper fasteners and tools to secure panels to your home. Have a route planned out keeping in mind the track of the storm. Preparing before the storm means you will have time to assemble your Go-Bag and you will have a plan of action in place. Be Safe.
