Members of the public are invited to CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION VIRTUAL PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING State Project No. 0152-0164 Route 85 (Hartford Turnpike) Computerized Traffic Signal System (CTSS) Replacement in Waterford Monday, March 31, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Register and Learn More: http://www.portal.ct.gov/DOTWaterford0152-0164 The purpose of this meeting is to provide the community with an opportunity to learn about the proposed project and allow an open discussion of any views and comments concerning the proposed improvements. A Q&A session will immediately follow the presentation. The purpose of the project is to replace the aging traffic signal infrastructure of ten signals along the Route 85 corridor. The replacement of the existing system will establish reliable communication between signalized intersections, upgrade traffic signal detection, reduce travel time, and use non-intrusive sensors to provide additional detection and visual capabilities. The right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements are expected to be minimal and there will be newly installed sidewalks at some project intersections. Construction is expected to start in fall 2026, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $7.19 million with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
