Members of the public are invited to CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING State Project No. 0057-0123 Replacement of Bridge No. 00293 Carrying 1-395 over Bishop Crossing Road Griswold Please join us on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 7:00p.m. The meeting will be held at Griswold Town Hall 28 Main Street Griswold, CT 06351 The purpose of this meeting is to provide the community an opportu- nity to learn about the proposed project and allow an open discussion of any views and comments concerning the proposed improvements. A Q&A session will immediately follow the presentation. The purpose of the project is to replace the existing bridge. Replace- ment is required based on the findings of the latest Bridge Inspection Report. The proposed structure is a single span steel girder superstruc- ture with curb-to-curb width of 102 feet 2 inches and a span length of 68 feet. The superstructure will be supported on GRS-IBS abutments. On Interstate 395 one lane of traffic in each direction will be main- tained during construction using a traffic crossover. Bishop Crossing Road will be closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic for the duration of construction. The proposed detour is approximately 7 miles using state routes. Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed project are not anticipated. Construction is anticipated to begin SPRING 2026 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approxi- mately $10,200,000. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 90 percent Federal funds and 10 percent State funds. Members of the public can submit comments and questions during the two-week public comment period following the meeting.
