TRUST Oni Sioson FOR MAYOR EAST HAVEN A NEW IMAGE FOR A BETTER TOMORROW These I aim to accomplish: Bonifacio (Oni) Sioson 1. Institute gender parity in public service particularly in executive roles 2. Reconvene the Charter Revision Committee to explore legal ways to bring about a genuine govenment of, by, and for the people through: a Recall of elected officialS) the community has deemed unfit to serve. b. Finding ways to more effectively enforce accountability in public office. c. Oversight supervision of police misconduct complaints involving malfeasance/misfeasance. d. Legal Prohibitions of nepotism in public office. Bonitacio (Oni) Sioson, Jr, the independent candidate in East Haven's three-way mayoral race, plans to hit the ground nunning if he wins the general election on Nov. 5 Included in his vision is holding a referendum to change the town's name from East Haven to East Port proclaiming that East Haven is a shoreline town that shares more characteristics with its neighbors to the east of the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge-Branford and Guilford, than those to the west-New Haven and West Haven. Think of my campaign as a noble endeavor to open a new chapter that would allow us to relegate to the dustbin of history all those expensive and embarrassingly scandalous moments that gave our town its notoriety theus making the name East Haven, too heavy a burden, to compel our children to carry "in pursuit of that goal, I will propose a referendum that would include our younger citizens starting at the age of 15 to participate, for them, more than us will East Haven's future rests. And the best support we could provide is to build a new foundation; a new image, which the name Eastford will instinctively convey" said Sioson, a former member of the East Haven Board of Education. The U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a business entrepreneur has a long record of community servicce as an elected and appointed member of various boards and commission both in the federal, state and local level and was a co-founder and chaiman of the town's Ctizens Action Group during the period when gang violence in his neighborhood proliferated. That his genesis into the politics of government began almost immediately after moving into the home where they live today, after being subjected to the most applling and hornific of experience anyone could ever imagine.
