PAID ADVERTISEMENT Why Women in Business Works aggressively pushing your agenda all the time, where is there space to get feedback on what's working and what's not? The idea that men have more business sense and women are best suited for do- mestic affairs is a stereotype passed down from generation to generation. How ever, we as humans evolve, and knowing better means doing better. The world is shifting, and the rise of woman entrepreneurs have started to shine a light on how achieving success doesn't have to look the same for everyone. My 18 years of experience as a woman in business alongside my spouse Jeff at UPS stores in Clinton and Guilford have taught me a lot. I have learned that women in busi- ness not only empower other women, but also offer a better way of practicing business that is far from the "good ole" boys' club." Despite the stereotypes women entrepre- neurs face daily, there are ways to overcome them and empower others to lift everyone to the next level. This knowledge led me to open Tranquil Balance Massage and Float Center seven years ago. Working in a predominantly women's field, I quickly experienced a sense of belong- ing, strength, and gratitude. More importantly, I realized the advantage of women in business. A work-life balance teaches a person to be more organized. Time, money, and resources are handled with care. When those pieces are in place, the business becomes more streamlined and profitable. Women also tend to have an innate ability to listen. The ability to listen is truly valu- able overlooked. Listening helps to form better con and stronger relationships, and in business it makes whatever services or products you're offering your audience become a better fit. I learned early on at Tranquil Balance that if you are As an entrepreneur, seeing the problems or opportunities in your business can be difficult when you are in the thick of things. Encouraging others to share their ideas and opinions is an important quality assurance measure to help determine where changes can be made. In the past seven years, I was very fortunate to help others succeed on their own paths to business. So far, I have been blessed to have the opportunity to meet, hire, and groom three amazing women. Kat Maruzo opened Intuitive Touch in Uncas- ville, Tina Tarr opened her own space in Mystic, and Christine Murray just opened Ad- vanced Myotherapy in Chaplin. Helping others succeed only widens the path for women in business. It also encourag- es mentees to pass on their knowledge to others when they reach the same status. As an entrepreneur, there are lessons learned along the way that you might have wished you had someone to guide you on, to help make the path easier. Nothing is more motivating than to see someone overcome the greatest obstacles and succeed. Lift the accomplishments of those around you, of women you admire. Rather than allow stereotypes to tell the story, women can empower themselves and others to rise to the top and define their own narratives.
