Norwich Public Utilities Public Notice November 14, 2024 In 2023, the NPU water system received a violation notice for drinking water monitoring and/or reporting requirements. As a supplier of public drinking water, we are required to monitor the water quality of our water supply to ensure that it meets all current drinking water standards. Failure to conduct monitoring and/or report results of such monitoring to the State Department of Public Health Drinking Water Section constitutes a violation. NPU is required to monitor our drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water meets health standards. We did not complete the monitoring for Surface Water Inorganic Chemicals (WSF ID: 2193) and Surface Water Pesticides (WSF ID: 2193 at the Deep River Reservoir for the Monitoring Period: January 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023) To correct this violation, the reservoir was sampled on January 18, 2024, which confirmed that NPU met all the 2024 sampling protocols. Please note that this notice is a result of a missing water sample in the reservoir. The water that NPU provides customers with is regularly tested according to all State requirements. This violation did not impact our water quality at any time. The testing at this location has resumed and has been completed for 2024. For more information, scan the QR code or visit our website.
