HERO VOLUNTEERS Improving Our Community Through Service Don Rankin Physician, Anthropolgist, Social Justice Warrior, Christmas Tree Salesman, & Volunteer Don Rankin was passionate about many causes-chief among them was protecting and preserving the history and natural beauty of Hammonasset. As a dedicated volunteer with the Friends of Hammonasset, he sold mums and christmas trees to raise funds to create the Meigs Point Nature Center. Charlotte L. Evarts First Town Historian, Sunday School Teacher, Mower of the Green, Collector of All Things Madison, & Volunteer Charlotte Evarts loved Madison. Born and raised here, she was an ardent collector of important documents from Madison's past. Though she didn't live to see the opening of the archive that bears her name, Charlotte's collection of newspapers, letters, journals, postcards, photographs and memorabilia became the basis for the CLEMA research center.
