In 1969, James McNeil and Reginald Brown opened the original location on Goose Lane in Guilford. They sold gas, repaired vehicles and did 24-hour towing. After joining forces with AAA, business was on its way to steady growth. After the tragic passing of Reggie Brown, Jim McNeil moved the company to its current location at 2293 Boston Post Road in 1998. Eventually Jim took on a new partner with strong dealership experience-Emest Betulia, S. Provider award in 2018, and voted Best Local Auto repair shop in Guilford from CTNow for wo years in a row (2018 & 2019 Guilford Texaco takes pride in the professionalism and superior, friendly customer service which has brought us continued success and customer loyalty for the past 50 years. We understand car repair can be stressful and do everything possible to make our customers feel welcome, comfortable and satisfied with their service experience. We're proud of our roots in Guilford and are very active in the community, sponsoring the Guilford Fair, Guilford High School sports, Toys for Tots and various other organizations. Seven years later in 2005-Emest Sr.s sons, James & Emest, Jr., took over operations. Ernie & Jim eventually purchased the business after their father became ill, and in 2013, Guilford Texaco was honored as the first AAA garage in the state to be ranked # 1 facility on the entire eastern seaboard by AAA and won their first AAA Service Provider of Excellence award. They also won this prestigious award for the second time in 2019. Grdtond TEXACO Due to the continued success of the business, a second Guilford Texaco location was opened in 2017.
