A Fond Farewell...I write today to share that Mix Design Store will be closing this month. The decision stems from various factors including an inability to reach a lease renewal agreement with the property owners of 29 Whitfield Street who intend to retain the space for their own professional use, and difficulties in the small business economy that have posed obstacles to maintaining a sustainable and profitable enterprise. The latter reinforces my choice not to explore an alternate location at this time.
The past 6 years have been a gift to me: the gift of your patronage, company, friendship and support. And when choosing birthday, holiday, wedding, or housewarming gifts, you've allowed me to vicariously be a part of your celebrations. How lucky I've been...
Thank you to Mix founders Jennifer Cowie, Betsy Gribble, and Wendy Walden for your guidance and trust as you turned over the keys to me in 2018. Because of you, I was able to embark on a retail education odyssey and, in the process, connect with some of the most remarkable individuals in our community. I will be forever grateful for and inspired by "The Original Mixers".
To my unbelievably talented, thoughtful, and team-minded employees - thank you for being on this ride with me. Through thick and thin, sickness and health, a pandemic, renovations, numerous mechanical and technological meltdowns, and oh so many schedule changes. Through new babies being born and older children showing up unannounced off the school bus, you ladies have had my back in a way that I could never have dreamed of or possibly deserve. I love you and am indebted.
To my husband and children for being so patient with me as I worked crazy hours and often missed hockey and soccer games, trips to see extended family over the holidays, or even just a boat ride in the summer. Change can be both challenging and rewarding and I look forward to the benefits of recovering this time.
Managing Mix and sharing my days with all of you has filled me with profound joy and gratitude, and the memories of our visits and conversations are something I will hold dearly and miss deeply.
