Welcome to My weekly series! ASK PROFESSIONAL Linda K. Lillie of Sprigs & Twigs CELEBRATING 26 YEARS! Linda K. Lillie has been President of Sprigs & Twigs, Inc. for the last 25 years. She is a graduate of Connecticut College in Botany, an accredited NOFA Organic Land Care Professional, a Connecticut Master Gardener and a national award winning landscape designer for her design and installation projects. We have this large ash tree in the middle of our yard which apparently is stressed. It has shed leaves in the past during heat waves but this time is different. For the last several days it is dropping leaves all day long. Can you help identify cause and offer a solution to preserve the tree. Thank you. Jamie Hi Jaime, Without looking closely at your tree, my best guess is the Emerald Ash Borer has gotten to it. Look for 'D'-shaped holes in the bark and for the bark actually shedding off of the tree. There is no solution for the invasion of Emerald Ash Borers. Slowly but surely all the Ash trees in Connecticut are dying or are already dead. You could contact SAVATREE in Old Saybrook come out to take a look for confirmation. Sprigs & Twigs best EMAIL OR MAIL YOUR QUESTIONS TO: info@sprigsandtwigs.net or Linda Lillie, Sprigs & Twigs Inc, PO Box 245, Gales Ferry, CT 06335 SPRICS & TWIGS VOTED THE BEST BY DAY READERS EVERY YEAR!
