Formed in 1976 and based in New York City, the Emerson String Quartet was one of the first quartets whose violinists alternate in the first violin position. In its final season, the Quartet will give farewell performances across North America and Europe before coming home to New York City for its final series there with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
